The bipartisan trade party was led by Arizona Representatives Tony Rivero, R-Peoria, and Rosanna Gabaldon, D-Green Valley, with full support from the Arizona House of Representatives. Believed to be one of the largest trade missions from any single state, close to 70 Arizona political and business leaders met with Mexican federal leaders in Mexico City and with the governor and legislature of the state of Guanajuato during the five day visit.

The mission was intended to strengthen the bonds between Arizona and its largest trading partner, Mexico, against the backdrop of the ongoing renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Business leaders and legislators encouraged U.S. federal officials to collectively endeavor to expand NAFTA and develop it to be more beneficial to all participants. Regular trade delegations to Mexico are planned to heighten pro-growth policies and further productive alliances.
